Germination
Sow indoors Feb-Apr. Sow direct from April. Best to sow indoors. Surface sow onto moist well-drained seed compost. Just cover the seed with soil. Propagate at 20°C. Germination takes 10-12 days approx. Once germinated grow on at 16°C. Transplant seedlings as soon as possible in May as the taproot does not like to be disturbed. For direct sowing, sow 12mm deep in rows 45cm apart with 30cm spacing. When seedlings appear thin to 45cm spacing.
Growing
Prefers a light, fertile well-drained soil in full sun. Water sparingly a couple of times a week.
Cultivation
Harvest the leaves as required. Harvest the seeds in autumn by cutting the plant down and thresh the seeds free. Seeds can be stored in a cool dry place.
