Germination
Sow indoors. Prior to sowing soak seed for 24 hours in hot (not boiling) water. Sow 10mm deep into moist, well-drained seed compost with added sand or perlite. Ideal temp. 25-28°C. Keep moist and in a bright spot. Germination takes 2-4 weeks approx. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on in cooler conditions, 15°C. Acclimatise and plant out when danger of frost has passed or keep in a cool greenhouse.
Growing
Prefers a fertile, moist but well-drained soil in sheltered, warm sun. In the UK possibly best under glass. In warmer climates the protection of a south facing wall is ideal.
