Germination
Soak seeds for 30 minutes prior to sowing. Direct sow outside into light well-drained soil with all visible stones removed and that has been raked to a fine tilth. Sow in shallow drills 3cm deep, spacing 10cm, rows 30cm apart. Germination takes up to 24 days. When large enough to handle thin to 10cm spacing.
Growing
Water beets regularly as inconsistent watering will cause woody roots.
Cultivation
Harvest the leaves for baby leaf. Can be left to grow the roots as per other beetroot varieties. Harvest alternate beets to allow remaining crops more space to grow. Harvest leaves by twisting off. Harvest root by holding the top and levering the root with a hand fork.
