Germination

Sow indoors in spring. Surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Just cover with a sprinkling of soil. Propagate or place in a polythene bag. Ideal temp. 20-25°C. Germination takes 14-21 days. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on. Acclimatise and plant out after danger of frost has passed.

Growing

Prefers any well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Needs consistent moisture. Pinch out first plume to promote branching and improved blooming. Fertilise every 2 weeks for improved blooms. Ideal for container planting.

Cultivation

Annual plant, pull and compost at the end of the season, frost will kill this plant.
