Germination

Sow indoors or under glass 4-6 weeks before last expected frost. Sow directly after danger of frost has passed. Surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Just cover seed with a fine layer of soil or grit. Place somewhere warm, ideal temp. 15-20°C. Germination takes 2-6 weeks but can be erratic and take much longer. When the seedlings are 6-8 weeks old they can be planted out in their final growing position, once danger of frost has passed. For direct sowing, sow onto prepared soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Keep well watered.

Growing

Easily grown under glass or in a sheltered spot in the garden. Prefers full or partial sun in a rich, but well-drained soil. Once established these plants are very drought tolerant.

Cultivation

Will self-seed freely. Deadhead if you do not want volunteer seedlings.
