Germination
Sow indoors prior to last expected frost. Sow directly after danger of frost has passed. Indoors sow into moist, well-drained seed compost. Just cover with a sprinkling of soil. Ideal temp. 21-25°C. Germination takes 2 weeks approx. Germination can be erratic and take longer, do not discard seed tray prematurely. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to individual pots and grown on under glass. Acclimatise and plant out after danger of frost has passed.
Growing
Grow in a moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun.
Cultivation
Deadhead to prolong flowering. Mulch in autumn. In cold areas lift tubers before first frosts and keep frost-free over winter. Propagate by taking basal cuttings in early spring and providing bottom heat.
