Germination
Sow indoors at any time. Prior to sowing cold stratify, place seeds with a damp piece of kitchen paper in a zip-lock type bag and pop in the fridge at 4°C for 4 weeks. Then surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Propagate in diffused light at 18-25°C. Do not allow to dry out Germination takes 30-90 days approx. Germination can be erratic even under ideal conditions. Once germinated admit air to prevent damping off. Allow to grow on under glass, it will take approx. 3 years to have plants large enough to plant out individually.
Growing
Best grown under glass in full light but with protection from full sun. Best grown on Sphagnum moss to which you may add sand or perlite. Wash Sphagnum moss, and soil in rain water prior to use. In winter keep moist, cool and well ventilated. Can be grown outdoors in moist, sharply draining, acidic soil in full sun. Irrigate with lime-free water.
