Germination

Sow indoors. Sow 2mm deep into moist well-drained seed compost. Choose a seed tray or pot which is quite deep. Sow seed 30mm apart as they require plenty of space. Ideal temp. 20°C. Germination takes 2 weeks approx. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on. Spring sowings can be planted out after danger of frost has passed. Autumn sowings should be grown on before planting out after danger of frost has passed.

Growing

Prefers poor, well-drained soil in full sun but will tolerate most soils in full or partial sun.

Cultivation

Deadhead to prevent self-seeding. Cut down to the ground after flowering to encourage a second flush of flowers.
