Germination
Sow under glass at any time, best sown in a cold frame Nov-Mar. Surface sow onto moist well-drained seed compost. Cover with a fine layer of soil. Keep moist. A cold frame offers ideal cool winter conditions allowing germination to occur as the weather warms in spring. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to deep pots to allow the tap root to develop. Acclimatise and plant out after danger of frost has passed with 100cm spacing.
Growing
Prefers fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. Water regularly during the growing season.
Cultivation
Prune in early spring to maintain shape and to remove damaged or congested stems.
