Germination

Sow indoors Feb-Apr. Sow 5mm deep into moist well-drained seed compost. Place somewhere warm. Ideal temp. 15-20°C. Keep moist. Germination takes 8-21 days approx. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on in cooler conditions. Acclimatise and plant out when danger of frost has passed. Can be sown directly after danger of frost has passed.

Growing

Prefers a moderately fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. Flowers will close when not in full sun. Water during dry spells. Requires little attention.

Cultivation

Deadhead regularly to extend the flowering window. Propagate by seed or basal cuttings taken in autumn.
