Germination
Sow indoors year round. Prior to sowing scarify seed. With sandpaper remove some of the hard seed coat and soak overnight in warm water. Plant seeds into pots filled with moist well-drained seed compost mixed with sand in a 8:2 ratio. Press seeds into soil and cover lightly with soil. Ideal temp. 20-25°C. Germination takes 4-5 weeks but can take longer. Keep soil damp but not wet. Keep seedlings out of direct sunlight. When shoots are 15cm high pot on. Plant out to final location as soon as possible with 8M spacing.
Growing
Prefers a well-drained soil in full sun. Water every 2-4 weeks. Young trees need to be staked. Keep watering until the tree is 6M tall.
Cultivation
When the leaves change colour in autumn protect the trunk from frost. Pruning is not required unless you wish to keep the tree small. If pruning is desired do so in spring.
