Germination
Sow indoors Feb-Jun and Sep-Nov. Sow directly after danger of frost has passed. Indoors, surface sow 2 seeds per small pot, filled with moist, well-drained seed compost. Do not cover small seeds but simply press into the soil. Cover with a sprinkling of vermiculite. Place in a propagator or cover with a sheet of clear plastic. Ideal temp. 20°C. Germination takes 16-21 days approx. When seedlings emerge admit air. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle. Autumn sowings need to be overwintered under glass, spring sowings can transplant directly out after danger of frost has passed. Directly sow into prepared soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Do not cover seeds. Keep moist. Thin as required.
Growing
Prefers any moist but well-drained soil in full sun. Will tolerate poor soils. Ideal for the rock garden, container planting or in wall crevices.
Cultivation
Trim after flowering to maintain shape. Propagate via seed or semi-hardwood cuttings.
