Sow

Germination

Direct sow. Sow 13mm deep in drills 30cm apart, seed 5cm spacing, into a well prepared seedbed. Cover with soil and water gently. Once germinated thin to 45cm. About 4 weeks from sowing move to final growing position with 60cm spacing.

Growing

Prefers a moist, deep loam soil in full sun. Feed and water regularly.

Cultivation

Harvest leaves and stalks in spring or 8 weeks from sowing. Do not deadhead the flowers if you wish to harvest the seed. For leaf production cut back hard in June to encourage new growth.
