Germination
Soak seeds for 30 minutes prior to sowing. Best to direct sow Mar-Aug. Can be started early, under glass, in trays Jan-Feb. and later transplanted. Directly sow into light well-drained soil with all visible stones removed that has been dug over and raked to a fine tilth. Organic matter can be added to the soil if desired. Sow in shallow drills 30mm deep, spacing 20cm, rows 50cm apart. Germination takes 14 days approx. Ideal germination temp 10-30°C. Successional sow for season long harvesting.
Growing
Do not over water, only water if soil is dry. Overwatering causes leaf growth, not bulb growth.
Cultivation
Harvest alternate plants in a row, allowing remaining plants more room to develop.
