Germination
Sow indoors or under glass at any time. Prior to sowing soak seeds for 12 hours in warm water. Drain. Seeds may have started to sprout, if not soak again. This may take up to 3 soakings. Rinse seeds before sowing. Surface sow seeds onto a tray of moist, well-drained seed compost. Sow seeds thickly. Seed does not need to be covered with soil. Cover whole seed tray with another inverted seed tray which has holes in, this will exclude light but allow ventilation. Ideal temp. 25°C. Water from the bottom daily. Germination should be rapid. Seedlings will quickly grow, as they start to push against the inverted top tray remove it to expose the seedlings to light. Move to a bright window sill to green up. Harvest when 10cm tall approx.
Growing
Easy to grow. Keep well watered. To harvest simply snip the shoots off at soil level with clean, sharp scissors. Store unwashed Sunflower microgreens in a sealed plastic bag in the fridge for up to 5 days. Wash well before consumption.
Cultivation
If not harvested as microgreens these plants will continue to grow into full-sized Sunflowers.
