Germination
Sow indoors Jan-May. Surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Cover with 1mm soil. Ideal temp. 15°C. Germination takes 1-3 months approx. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to individual pots and grow on. Acclimatise and plant out after danger of frost has passed. Can be sown into a cold frame in autumn where natural winter cold should offer ideal conditions for germination to occur as the weather warms in spring.
Growing
Prefers a fertile or moderately fertile, preferably alkaline soil which is well-drained and in full sun. Dislikes winter wet so ensure good drainage or offer a protective mulch.
Cultivation
Requires little attention. Propagate by seed or via division in spring.
