Germination

Sow indoors. Surface sow onto seed compost. Needs light to germinate. Ideal temp. 20-30°C. Germination should take 7-14 days. Keep moist. When large enough to handle plant out with 30cm spacing. Best to plant out after summer has passed.

Growing

Prefers a sandy soil. Water as required but do not overwater.

Cultivation

If very cold apply a deep sand mulch at the crown of the plant. Foliage and stems can be cut back in the autumn for drying if required.
