Germination
Sow indoors. Sow 4-6 weeks prior to last expected frost. Surface sow onto moist well-drained seed compost with only a sprinkling of soil to cover. Keep moist but not wet. Germination 21-30 days. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots. Acclimatise and plant out once danger of frost has passed with 60-90cm spacing.
Growing
Best in full sun but can tolerate light shade. Prefers a moist well-drained soil.
Cultivation
Often dies after flowering. If growing for foliage remove flowers before they open. Will die down, below ground in winter and should re-emerge in spring. Leave old leaves in place until new growth is visible.
