Germination
Sow directly where they are to grow in warm weather. In cooler weather sow under glass. Under glass surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Just cover seed with a sprinkling of soil. Keep the compost moist but not wet at all times. Ideal temp. 20°C. Germination can be a little erratic. Once germinated grow on in cooler conditions. Directly, sow into prepared soil that has been raked to a fine tilth. Lightly cover seed. Water ground during dry periods. When large enough to handle thin to 50cm spacing.
Growing
Prefers a fertile, well-drained, alkaline soil in full sun. Will tolerate any soil or situation. This plant will die after flowering. Flowering may be in the second year, but in difficult conditions may take several years.
Cultivation
Will self-seed freely. Deadhead if you do not want volunteer seedlings next season.
