Germination
Sow into a cold frame in spring or autumn. Surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Just cover seed with a sprinkling of soil. Place in a cold frame. Ideal temp. 10°C. Germination takes 1-3 months approx. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into trays of potting compost and grow on in the cold frame until the following spring. Acclimatise and plant out after danger of frost has passed.
Growing
Prefers a humus-rich, moist soil in partial shade. Will tolerate a drier soil in full shade and a more moist soil in full sun.
Cultivation
Will self-seed freely. Deadhead if you do not want volunteer seedlings next season. Propagate by seed or by division of established plants in spring.
