Germination

Sow indoors. Surface sow onto moist well-drained seed compost. Cover with a little soil. Propagate. Ideal temp. 10-15°C. Germination takes 15-30 days. When seedlings are large enough to handle transplant seedlings to 8cm pots and grow on. Acclimatise and plant out once danger of frost has passed. Can be sown directly in pre-watered shallow rows, cover with a little soil. 30cm spacing on rows. Thin seedlings to 20cm spacing when large enough to handle.

Growing

Prefers well-drained ordinary soil in full sun. Pinch out the growing tip of small plants to encourage a bushier plant. Requires little attention.

Cultivation

Harvest sparingly in the first year. Cut and use fresh as required or dry in small bunches by hanging until dry. Do not cut the plant back too hard as it will not regrow.
