Germination
Sow indoors. Sow 1mm deep into moist well-drained seed compost. Ideal temp. 25°C. Germination takes 21-30 days but can be erratic often taking several months or more. If seeds have not emerged after 4-6 weeks cold stratify. Move to 5°C for 4-6 weeks then return to warmth. Germination should occur, if not repeat the process. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on. Quick growing, pot on as needed, final pot size 3L approx. Use a loam based compost. Best grown in a conservatory or cool greenhouse. Only plant out once danger of frost has passed.
Growing
Grow under glass or indoors in a loam-based potting compost in full light. When in growth water freely and liquid fertilise every month. Water sparingly in winter, keeping barely moist. Can be grown outdoors in warmer climates.
Cultivation
Prune just before growth starts in mid-spring, after danger of frost has passed. Aim to remove about 1/3rd of older wood in total. After pruning mulch or feed.
