Germination
Can be sown indoors at any time but best sown directly in spring before the last expected frost. Simply scatter the seeds into prepared soil. The seed usually requires a period of cold before it germinates. Germination takes 30-40 days and occurs as the weather warms to 18-20°C. If indoors sown cold stratification may be required, place seeds in a polythene bag with a little soil and put somewhere cold for a few weeks, 4°C approx., a fridge is ideal, then remove to warmth for germination. Thin seedlings once danger of frost has passed.
Growing
Prefers an open rocky site in an alkaline soil. May require support.
Cultivation
Deadhead flowers regularly to extend the flowering window. Will self-seed freely if not deadheaded.
