Germination
Sow under glass in autumn or spring. Ideally use a cold frame. Surface sow onto moist well-drained seed compost. Sow very thinly. Just cover seed with soil. Ideal temp. 10-16°C. Germination takes 3-4 weeks but can be erratic. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on. Acclimatise and plant out in the summer.
Growing
Will tolerate any soil, even poor soils in partial sun. Full sun will scorch the leaves. Once established can tolerate full shade. Great ground cover plant or for underplanting, may be considered invasive. Will tolerate light foot traffic.
Cultivation
Remove spent flower stems and dead leaves at the end of winter. Plants can be trimmed back. For large groupings a hedge trimmer can be used.
