Germination

Sow indoors. Sow seeds 20mm deep in 8cm pots of seed compost. Propagate at 12-25°C. Germination takes 7-10 days. Do not exclude light. Once germinated grow on in cooler conditions until frost has passed. Acclimatise 7-10 days before planting out. Alternatively sow directly outside into warm soil 5cm deep, spacing 25cm, rows 60cm apart.

Growing

Water regularly. Mulch around plant during dry periods. Climbing beans will require support from canes, string or netting from time of planting.

Cultivation

Harvest beans regularly while the pods are still young.
