Germination
Sow indoors. Surface sow onto moist well-drained seed compost. Just cover seed with soil. Ideal temp. 21-24°C. Germination takes 7-14 days approx. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on in cooler conditions. Acclimatise for 10-15 days before planting out with 15cm spacing. Can be sown directly in mid summer-early autumn. Surface sow and keep moist until established. Protect seedlings with a straw mulch until danger of frost has passed.
Growing
Prefers a well-drained, moderately fertile soil in full sun or partial shade. Easy to grow. Water regularly but do not overwater.
Cultivation
Deadhead spent blooms to extend the flowering window and to avoid self-seeding. Can be cut back after flowering if desired.
