Germination
Sow indoors. Surface sow onto moist well-drained seed compost. Just cover seed with soil. Ideal temp. 20°C. Germination takes place fairly quickly. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on in cooler conditions. Acclimatise for 10-15 days before planting out with 15cm spacing. Can be sown directly in mid summer-early autumn. Surface sow and keep moist until established. Protect seedlings with a straw mulch until danger of frost has passed.
Growing
Prefers a well-drained, moderately fertile soil in full sun or partial shade. Easy to grow. Water regularly but do not overwater.
Cultivation
Deadhead to avoid self-seeding. Can be cut back after flowering if desired.
