Germination

Sow indoors in spring. Surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Just cover with a sprinkling of soil. Ideal temp. 20°C. Germination takes 2-3 weeks approx. Germination can be erratic even under ideal conditions. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on in cooler conditions. Acclimatise and plant out when danger of frost has passed. Can be sown in autumn for 2nd year flowering.

Growing

Prefers any fertile, well-drained soil in full or partial sun. Can tolerate light frosts but will benefit from winter protection.

Cultivation

Deadhead regularly to extend the flowering window.
