Germination

Sow indoors at any time. Mix seed with a little sand. Surface sow onto moist well-drained seed compost. Do not cover the seeds with soil. Ideal temp. 20°C. Germination takes 2 weeks approx. but can take up to 9 weeks. Once germinated grow on in cooler conditions. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to individual pots. Acclimatise and plant out when danger of frost has passed. Planting hole should be 15cm deep.

Growing

Prefers any average to fertile, neutral to acid, well-drained soil in full sun. will tolerate any well-drained soil in full sun.

Cultivation

Pruning group 2. Prune in late winter or early spring. Prune back to 60cm height approx. Cut branches at an angle just above a bud, cut should slope away from the bud. Deadhead spent flowers in the growing season to encourage further blooms.
