Germination
Sow into a cold frame in spring or at any time. Sow seed thinly 1mm deep into moist, well-drained seed compost. Ideal temp. 4-15°C. Germination takes 1-6 months. Known for erratic germination. Allow seedlings to grow on undisturbed for 1 year. Liquid feed if desired. When dormant in summer pot on small bulbs. Grow on for 1-2 years before planting out in summer.
Growing
Prefers a moist, well-drained, humus-rich, fertile soil. Intolerant of waterlogging. May require frost-free winter protection.
Cultivation
Propagate via seed. Remove offsets when dormant in winter. Cut back faded flower spikes.
