Germination

Sow indoors. Surface sow onto moist well-drained seed compost. Lightly cover seed with soil. Propagate 18-20°C. Germination takes 21-30 days. Germination can be irregular and take much longer. If germination does not occur cold stratify. Move to 4°C for 2-4 weeks and then return to warmth for germination. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots. Acclimatise and plant out after danger of frost has passed with 90cm spacing.

Growing

Prefers ordinary well-drained soil in full sun. If the soil is too rich the plants will become floppy. May require staking.

Cultivation

Plant will die at the end of flowering. Pull plant and compost.
