Germination

Sow indoors at any time. Surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Just cover seeds with a fine sprinkling of soil or simply press small seeds into the soil. Ideal temp. 18-21°C. Germination takes 2 weeks approx. but can be erratic and take several months. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle. Acclimatise and plant out after danger of frost has passed.

Growing

Prefers a fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun. Provide winter protection in the first year.

Cultivation

Cut and comb out the previous years stems and foliage in late winter or early spring. Handle with care as the leaf edges are very sharp.
