Germination
Sow under glass at any time, a cold frame is ideal. Sow 1mm deep into moist, well-drained sandy compost. Light is needed for germination. Ideal temp. 15°C Keep moist. Germination usually occurs in spring regardless of when the seeds were sown. Acclimatise and plant out when well grown and after danger of frost has passed.
Growing
Prefers a moist but well-drained acidic soil in a sheltered position in full or partial sun. May be hardy in warmer regions when offered frost-free protection, otherwise grow as a container plant in a cool greenhouse.
Cultivation
Pruning group 9. May require restrictive pruning in late winter. Propagate by semi-hardwood cuttings.
