Germination

Sow directly. Sow seeds thinly 10mm deep into well prepared soil, ideally in dappled shade. Sow in drills 30cm apart. Keep well watered. Germination is rapid. When seedlings are large enough to handle thin to 15cm spacing. Successional plant for long lasting supply. Can be sown indoors into small pots for windowsill growing at any time of year.

Growing

Prone to bolting. Keep well watered to prevent bolting and offer protection from excessive heat/ sun.

Cultivation

Remove leaves from the outside of the plant as required for the kitchen. Remove flower heads to increase harvest window. You may allow a few flower heads to form so that the plant may self-seed for next year.
