Germination

Sow indoors 8 weeks prior to last expected frost. Prior to sowing soak seed in warm water for 24 hours. Surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Do not cover seed but press into the soil. Cover seed tray with a sheet of glass or clear plastic to maintain moisture. Ideal temp. 20-23⁰C. Germination takes from 2 weeks but can be erratic taking a couple of months. After germination admit air to prevent damping off. Water from the bottom only. Grow on. Transplant after 4-8 weeks. Acclimatise and plant out after danger of frost has passed.

Growing

Prefers any soil in full sun. The plant has deep roots so does not like to be transplanted. Taller plants may require staking / additional support. This plant is tender and will require protection from frost.

Cultivation

Will self-seed freely. Propagate by seed or root cutting.
