Germination

Sow indoors in Feb-Mar. or under glass in April. Prior to sowing soak seed for 24 hours in warm water. Sow 3-4 seeds in an individual pot filled with moist, well-drained seed compost. Ideal temp. 12-18°C. Germination takes 21-42 days approx. but can be erratic and take many months, even up to a year. Once germinated thin to strongest seedling. Grow on under glass.

Growing

Container plant under glass, a greenhouse or conservatory is ideal. Prefers a fertile, moisture retentive, well-drained, ideally calcareous soil in full sun.

Cultivation

Will self-seed freely, deadhead if you do not want volunteer seedlings next season. Prune hard each year after flowering. Always wear gloves and thoroughly wash hands after handling this plant.
