Germination

Sow directly where they are to flower the following year. Sow 6mm deep into prepared soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Sow in clumps or shallow drills with 30cm spacing. Water regularly. Germination takes 14 days approx. but will vary depending on the temperature. Thin to final spacing of 30cm. Light frosts will not harm the seedlings.

Growing

Very easy to grow. Will tolerate any soil or situation. Ideally plant in a corner or area where the plant can be contained as it will spread freely if left unchecked.

Cultivation

Will self-seed freely. Cut back and remove plants which may cause trouble before the seed matures. Being biennial the plants only live a few years.
