Germination

Sow directly. Best sown into existing grass or mix with a grass seed mix prior to sowing. Prepare the site in late summer by cutting or grazing hard to create gaps with 50% bare soil. Rake or harrow if required. Mix seed with sand and broadcast sow. Germination may be variable with some species slow and others emerging quickly. If you are concerned about looses through direct sowing you may sow into a seed tray, keep warm out of direct sunlight.

Growing

After sowing continue to mow or graze to keep grass short if desired.

Cultivation

A zoned approach is required for management. Leave shaded areas uncut most years. Treat more open areas as you would grassland, cut 1-2 times per year. If left unmown the vegetation will become rough and 'tussocky'.
