Germination

Sow directly. Contains sufficient seed for 1-2 square metres. Prior to sowing prepare site. The site should be ordinary soil near to established trees and shrubs. Weed, but try to disturb the soil as little as possible. Broadcast sow. Germination will be erratic, these are wild species, some species included will emerge more quickly than others. Expect some species to not emerge for at least a year or more.

Growing

Requires some shade to thrive. Ideally planted in established woods or young woodland. Due to the varying circumstances of woodland growth can be patchy and slow.

Cultivation

Keep brambles and nettles under control. For plants to do well tree management may be required to ensure sufficient light reaches ground level. Open woodland will provide a higher growth rate, an annual cut mid summer may give a more managed appearance.
