Germination
Sow into a cold frame in spring or autumn. Surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Just cover seed with a sprinkling of soil. Ideal temp. 10-13°C. Germination takes 1-3 months. Even under ideal conditions germination can be erratic taking up to 1 year. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to individual pots and grow on. Acclimatise and plant out when danger of frost has passed.
Growing
Prefers any moisture retentive soil in full or partial sun. Flowering is improved in full sun. Drought tolerant once established. Hardy to -25°C.
Cultivation
Cut back in spring as this plant flowers only on new growth. Rarely self-seeds. Propagate by seed or via cuttings of half-ripe wood in summer. Will spread via stolon's and is very hardy. May become invasive.
