Germination
Sow indoors at any time. Prior to sowing nick or scarify seed and soak overnight in warm water. Surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Just cover with a sprinkling of soil. Ideal temp. 20-27°C. Germination takes 10-15 days approx. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to individual pots and grow on under glass. Only move outside in the UK during warm weather.
Growing
Prefers a rich, well-drained soil in full sun with humidity and a min. temp. ideally not below 3°C. A temp below -5°C will kill this plant. Can be grown under glass in a container and moved outside during warmer weather. Protect from winds. If container grown it can not grow to maturity. Water regularly when in growth and mist the leaves to raise humidity. Feed Mar-Sep. if desired every 2-3 weeks. In winter decrease watering and cease fertilising. Repot each spring.
Cultivation
This tree will grow to 20M in a warm garden. In the UK usually container grown to 1M approx. When the plant reaches your preferred height it can be trimmed. Propagate by seed. Easy to care for but will not tolerate cold or draughts.
