Germination
Sow directly after the last frost or sow indoors early for transplanting out in summer. Surface sow onto moist well-drained seed compost with 10mm spacing. Just cover with a sprinkling of soil. Keep the soil moist and protect from direct sun. Ideal temp. 21-23°C. Germination is rapid. Thin to final spacing 20cm. Successional sow every 4 weeks for continuous supply.
Growing
Prefers a moist rich soil with plenty of well rotted compost. Naturally a woodland plant, this will flourish in part shade. May require protection from slugs and snails.
Cultivation
Plants are ready to harvest about 50 days from sowing. Harvest by cutting the stems at ground level when they are about 12-15cm tall. Allow several plants to go to seed if you would like seed for next years crop.
