Germination
Best sown directly but can be sown early indoors. Surface sow onto moist well-drained seed compost. Cover with a fine layer of compost. Propagate. Ideal temp. 20-30°C. Germination takes 5-21 days. Transplant once seedlings are large enough to handle to 8cm pots. Grow on in cooler conditions. Acclimatise and plant out once danger of frost has passed with 60cm spacing. Sow directly May-Jun. Sow in Sep-Oct. for flowering the following year.
Growing
Prefers sandy soils in full sun. Requires little attention.
Cultivation
Cut back after flowering to prevent self-seeding. Clumps may be divided in spring.
