Germination
Best sown directly where it is to flower after danger of frost has passed, usually Apr-May. Sow into a prepared seed bed which has been raked to a fine tilth. Surface sow and gently rake the seed in or press into the soil. Water well until germination occurs. Germination takes 2-3 weeks in warm weather (20-25°C) longer in cooler weather. Once germinated allow to grow on undisturbed.
Growing
Prefers any soil in full sun. Will tolerate coastal planting. Ideal for the middle of an ornamental border. Requires little attention.
Cultivation
Cut back in autumn-mid winter to allow fresh growth to come through in spring. Ripe seeds can be collected and re-sown the following spring.
