Germination
Sow indoors. Surface sow onto lightly firmed, moist well-drained seed compost. Press seeds into the soil but do not cover. Light is needed for germination. Propagate 18-20°C. Germination takes 5-21 days. Transplant seedlings once large enough to handle to 15cm pots and grow on. Acclimatise and plant out once danger of frost has passed.
Growing
Prefers full sun and a fertile soil that is no too wet. Water regularly until mature.
Cultivation
Harvest stems when the plant is about to flower. Prune in spring after flowering to encourage bushiness. Deadhead to prevent self-seeding, will self-seed freely. Mulch in winter in cold areas. Propagate from cutting branch tips and rooting them.
