Germination

Seed is taken from cold storage, sow immediately. Seed is packed with inert matter to ensure the best conditions, either discard or sow with seeds. Surface sow onto moist well-drained seed compost. Just cover seed with a sprinkling of soil. Keep moist but not wet. Keep warm, ideal temp. 25°C. Germination takes 3-4 months approx. Allow seedlings to grow on. Growth rate, to begin with can be very slow. Pot on as required. Grown on under glass.

Growing

Best grown under glass in a loam-based compost. Prefers moderate to high humidity. To increase humidity the container in which the plant is planted can be placed on pebbles in a tray, these pebble can be kept wet at all times. Prefers bright, indirect light. Can be grown outdoors, minimum 10-15°C, in a sheltered frost-free area where it will prefer a humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil. Indoors, this plant is easy to care for. This plant will require a framework on which to climb, a moss stick is ideal as this can provide moisture to any aerial roots.

Cultivation

Propagate by seed, root tip or leaf cuttings, or by layering in summer. Pruning group 11. No regular pruning required but trim to keep to desired shape and size, removing as much from the longest shoots as required.
