Sow direct. Sow 2mm deep into prepared soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Sow in rows spaced 15cm apart. Ideal temp. 20°C. Germination takes 7-21 days. Seedlings will appear 6-8 weeks from sowing. Keep soil moist. Thin seedlings to 45cm spacing. Can be sown in autumn and over wintered in a cold frame for planting out the following spring.
Growing
Prefers fertile well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Water during dry periods to promote flowering.
Cultivation
Deadhead to prolong flowering window. Allow a few plants to self-seed, other plants can be pulled and composted in autumn.
