Germination
Sow under glass autumn-winter. Sow directly in spring-summer. Indoors surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Just cover seed with a sprinkling of soil. Ideal temp. 15-19°C. Germination is rapid. Directly sow into prepared soil, 15mm deep in rows 40cm apart, cover with soil and water. Direct sown seed may require protection from bird attack.
Growing
Keep well watered to avoid bolting and lack of flavour. Very easy to grow. Can be prone to aphid attack.
Cultivation
Ready to harvest 3-6 weeks from sowing for baby leaf, 6-8 weeks for a whole head to mature.
