Germination

This is a biennial grown as an annual. Sow directly in drills 15mm deep, 3-4 seeds grouped together with 20cm spacing between, drills 25cm apart. Soil should be finely prepared, all stones removed and have been watered. Germination is slow, several weeks. When seedlings appear thin to single strongest plant per grouping.

Growing

Water well until plants are established and mulch if it is a dry summer. The roots will split if the soil becomes dry.

Cultivation

Leave the root in the ground until required. Flavour improves after frosting. Cover the crop with straw over winter to prevent the ground from freezing. Parsley Leaves can be picked, leaving the root intact as required.
