Germination
Best to sow indoors Feb-Apr. Surface sow onto moist well-drained seed compost. Just cover with a sprinkling of soil or vermiculite. Ideal temp. +20°C. Germination takes 14 days approx. Grown on. Acclimatise and plant out after danger of frost has passed. Plant out in small clumps.
Growing
Prefers a light moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soil. May require winter protection in colder areas. Fertilise once in summer for an improved show but do not over-fertilise as this will increase leaf growth at the expense of flower quality.
Cultivation
Remove dead foliage and old flowered stems in spring as new growth appears in the centre of plants.
